BTW, this thread in fact goes to illustrate my original point about people don't bother to take time to understand what they are opposing - paint the opponent with some broad brush of evil and that's enough. And thus utterly miss out on the key to your own advantage in the fight is to understand your opponent in an objective manner.

All I have to do is point out the historical and /or geopolitical context of why China is doing (instead of just shout a few evil chicom die, die, die slogans) and I'll be pretty sure to be tagged by the slogan shouter as a commie sympathizer. So it goes, just another day in the demagoguery corner of FR.

For the record, I happened to lean towards pro-Taiwan independence as well as Tibetan independence (go ahead, look it up, I'm sure you have done it by now, probably already disappointed that you can't call me a newbie). I just happen to understand the rationale of China's action - I don't have to agree with it, but i know where they are coming from and the context behind it - and it helps me to know where they are going. But if you prefer to have them as some unfathomable bogeyman, well, have it your way ... :)
