While I don't doubt the negative perception is up, seven percentage points is well within the margin of error for a MSM poll.

The biggest contributors to the Hassidim and other Orthodox are the liberal reformist Jews. I have to think the same thing goes on in Islam where the most orthodox get lots of funding from moderate and lazy Muslims. Who like to live more loosely but respect & revere the defenders of the faith. Respect those who do what they are too lazy or unable to do.
Unfortunately in Islam the orthodox are bloody Jihadists out to conquer the infidel

"Islam's problem is that there are no moderates around to clean up Islam's current irresponsible behavior."
The reason is Islam has butchered all it's moderates. The gene pool is destroyed.

the Koran is the last book on earth I'd call holyThe Koran was the second book I've ever read where I closed it half way through and threw it in the garbage.
The first was Mein Kampf.

"...the tense months after the Sept. 11, 2001...when Muslims were often targeted for violence."
The stupidity of this false remark is only outdone by the remarks of every single "expert" quoted. If the opinion of Muslims has declined over the past few years it certainly isn't the fault of our "elites" or even the media, it is the fault of Islamofacists world wide. The cartoon jihad was the last straw to my mind and I venture many others felt the same way.

I heard about that poster, is it real, or is it photoshopped? It seems to me like some protest warrior "Communists for Kerry" thing, too good to be true.

As the war in Iraq grinds into its fourth year, a growing proportion of Americans are expressing unfavorable views of Islam, and a majority now say that Muslims are disproportionately prone to violence,
As the 5th anniversary of the bloody 9-11 attack approaches, a growing proportion of Americans are expressing unfavorable views of Islam, and a majority now say that Muslims are disproportionately prone to violence,
There, fixed it.

Well, don't that just say it all! "we're mad that you think we're violent and barbaric, so to disprove this, we will perpetrate acts of violence and barbarism..."
If this is the true face of Islam,it is a sick, schizoid cult of the demonically posessed.

Today's New York Post has an article citing taped quotes made by the executive director of ministerial services for the Dept. of Correction. He(Imam Umar Abdul-Jalil) states that 1)Muslim inmates are tortured by Correction Officers 2)The greatest terrorists in the world occupy the White House 3) We have to stop allowing the Zionists of the Media to dictate what Islam is to us.
Sure sounds seditious (and not ministerial) to me but, then again it's not much different than what is regularly spouted by Dean, Gore, Rangel, Kerry...
To: nj26
The poll found that nearly half of Americans -- 46 percent -- have a negative view of Islam That's an astonishingly low number. I guess it depends upon how they define "negative view."

" ............. in the tense months after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, when Muslims were often targeted for violence. What's with these blatantly lying journalists, Claudia Deane and Darryl Fears? Telling falsehoods about Christains Jews and plain old Americans so that the poor muslims won't feel so all alone in coping with their beheading addiction?
NONE of my 4 adult kids read the newspaper or watch TV news, a very wise choice , seeing as zero of these editors and few journalists have a commitment to basic honesty.
"....Often targeted for violenece......" makes me want to go out and talk 10 people into canceling their subscription

"Essentially, in Islam, the radical interpretation is the correct and orthodox one, which is why "moderate" Muslims are considered heretics and regularly overrun and stomped out by the crazies."
Moderates are to Islam basically what Episcopalians are to Christians.

"
Islam's problem is that there are no moderates around to clean up Islam's current irresponsible behavior." Exactly. And those that are the more moderate are completely marginal to the mainstream. Can you imagine a muslim apoligist like Ibrahim Cooper being invited to speak in a major mosque in Saudi Arabia or Gaza or Iran and telling the people not to hate the Jews and Christians? His head would be rolling on the floor within seconds.
The "tolerance" that muslims have for others is in direct inverse relationship to how "religious" they are.
I know a lot of muslims, some of them very sweet people. They are also very nominal, a little embarrassed about their religion, and not sure how to separate themselves from it. They know they are marginal, and without influence.
