Several times while picking someone up at the airport I have witnessed this. Once was for the locals arriving from a class at the Naval Academy. It is an impressive and nice thing to do. Often individual soldiers look around to see who the welcome is for, thinking a celebrity is present. When they realize it is for them the are quite humbled.
