More than 100 Catholic priests in the Dublin region of Ireland are suspected of having abused children in the last 66 years, according to a new report. The Archdiocese of Dublin's report said at least 350 children may have been abused in the region since 1940.
More than 3% of some 2,800 priests to have worked in the archdiocese are suspected of abuse - the biggest such figure revealed so far in Ireland.
The Irish government is soon to begin an inquiry into abuse in the church.
The office of Archbishop Diarmuid Martin said it was publishing its findings before a commission is formed later this month to investigate the handling of abuse.
A series of sex-abuse scandals have dented the Irish Catholic church's reputation since 1994.
The report said it had arrived at its figure after studying the personnel files of all priests who have worked in the Dublin archdiocese since 1940.
So far, 32 priests in the archdiocese have been sued for damages by 105 victims, according to the report.
The cost of the litigation so far - $7m - is expected to rise, the report said, as many cases have yet to be settled and more suspected victims of abuse have still to be traced.

Remember when people used to say "Its a sin and a shame?"
Well this is. The Church has known of these things for years and its finally seeing the light. But its not only the Church its all over now, people trying to shove Homosexual and Pedophile acts as being just an aberration. Its a sickness, a perversion, these people arent normal. Sex between two people of the same sex is just as sick as sex acts between Brother and sister or sex with animals.Polygamy is certainly a more normal act than same sex marriage.
Irelands Growing Evangelical Churches Shift Congregation from Catholic Majority
June 24 , 2005, 17:28 (UK)
A report released by the Evangelical Alliance Ireland recently showed that increasing numbers of Irish people are converting to evangelical Christianity. With an estimated weekly total congregation in evangelical churches rising by 13,000 members each week in the Dublin area alone, the Catholic majority in Ireland is shifting and forming a new religious face.
"There have been a lot of disappointments in the Catholic Church over the last few years. Things have come out in the media that have shaken basic assumptions that people have had and people are not ready to give up on God and ready to give up on spirituality, but they're coming back and saying, 'Is there another option?'"

Twelve years of Catholic school had me getting beat-up more by the nuns than the priests.
Most gay priests are pretty easy to spot and I was good at staying out of their way.
Well, onward thru the fog...
Another disgusting group of homosexuals infiltrating the church and for what purpose -- to capture a catamite for their perverted pleasure. Where is Jacko these days?
Just write a few open letters instructing the offending priests to hide illegal aliens. That'll throw the media off the scent.

The Catholic Church has its priorities in order, like boycotting cartoons. Nothing to discuss. Move along.
