The last time we discussed The DaVinci Load, a lot of Freepers said, "It's just fiction!" Well yeah. And Uncle Tom's Cabin was just fiction, too. Same thing with the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

I can debunk it right now. Take the book, look on the spine. It says "Fiction". There.....debunked.

The Da VInci Code was entertaining in an Indiana Jones sort of way. Alot of fiction loosely sprinkled with some fact to make it plausible.

When Dan Brown went on TV and said "it's true, it's all true I say" that's when he went from serious novelist to crackpot.

Your point is...?

Are you saying that a contention that the Resurrection is a fairy story is not something we should concern ourselves with?

If my neighbor comes to me and tells me he read a non-fiction book "debunking" the Resurrection (such as The Passover Plot), should I just let him go to Hell instead of correcting him, because I wouldn't want to violate Titus 3:9 by engaging in a "contention?"

I think it's pretty clear to most with an IQ over room temperature (although, there will always be those "few") that it is a ficitonal novel.

Dan Brown, however could seem to be touting it as non-fiction. If he did "historical research," perhaps he needed guidelines to dink with, to make it a juicy novel.

After all, he's in the business to make a living. It's just, like the article said, that some folks can't tell the difference.

The DaVinci code is nothing new. Gnostics have been saying pretty much the same thing for centuries and I think you can count the percentage of the population that adheres to either on one finger.

When I read the DaVinci code I was fascinated by the discussion of the interpretation of The Last Supper painting and the presence of Jesus' wife therein. In the much-antipated sequel, it will be revealed that Jesus' wife was actually Pedro Martinez of the New York Mets.

Just the other day, there was a guy in the local bar raving about what a great book "The Da Vinci Code" is, about how it opens you up to new ideas etc. It's amazing how people who nitpick and parse every comment by Bush will then turn around and accept without question a book that is filled with falsehoods and distortions. And if you DO question it, you're a bad guy.

Dan Brown was on A&E television in late November/early December 2004 as A&E ran one of those expose's on the DaVinci Code...They interviewed Dan Brown and he was there saying that he believes what he wrote in "the code" is true and that it was labeled as fiction by the publisher.

It was eyeopening to see this guy go from fiction author
to tin foil hat wearing crackpot.
