New Hampshire is once again the nations Most Livable State, according to a Kansas research firms annual study of American living conditions.
Its the third straight year Morgan Quitno Press has given the designation to the Granite State. Its rankings are based on dozens of factors, from economic performance to infrastructure. Word of the Granite States first-place finish had officials talking up the three-peat.
This report affirms what citizens of our state already know: New Hampshire is a great place to live and work, Gov. John Lynch said in a written statement.
This year, according to Morgan Quitno and state authorities, New Hampshire once again edged Minnesota for the top spot. Minnesota has ranked second the past three years. Iowa, Vermont and New Jersey were the other states in the top five.

Massachusetts ranked 7th.
No Credence.
I saw a blurb about this on WMUR news this morning, and New Jersey wasn't in the top 5. I think Virginia was #5.
Err, while I won't fight you on that applying to Maine, Mass, Conn, and RI (and probably VT), NH has no income tax, no sales tax and is a very conservative state, on the whole (just not the very southern edge that's now rife with idiots from Mass.)
Note: I am not from NH so this isn't senseless shilling.
The quality of life index obviously does not place a high value on multiculturalism.
The DMZ keeps moving north..Mass state line..Nashua to Manchester...
Easier to profile here...
Louisiana ranks 50th.
I used to live there and I liked it a lot. But you have to like deep snow to be happy there. I was young then, and a skier.
Not so much any more...It just looks like that because we border MA & VT. Imagine just about anyone standing next to Helen Thomas - they'll look really good.
NH is the exception. The other NE states are definitely in decay. Maine is a basket case.
There was no such thing as deep snow this winter. I don't think we ever had as much as a foot on the ground. Right now there's more bare ground than snow covered.
I beg to differ. Manchester got 15 inches of snow on December 9th. I was there and drove back and forth to Augusta, ME that day.
Those southern edge idiots from Mass vote Republican. Look at the red/blue map from the last two elections. I can see that you're not a shill. You really don't know what you're talking about. I'm a NH native in the middle of the state. I know what you're talking about regarding the Massholes but the ones in Rockingham and Hillsboro counties are doing their part to make sure this place doesn't become as lefty as Mass. I applaud them for it.
I'm going to Manchester today. I'll report in later as to how much snow there is on the ground there. 15" isn't much of a storm, especially when it's mostly gone in a few days. That same storm (I think it was on a Sunday) provided us up here in ski/snow country with a dusting.
Let's see how 'conservative' NH is: Voted 'red' in the last election, 2 out of the last 3 governors have been Democrats - with a pseudo-Republican in between, it looks as if the state will ban smoking in all public places, the demented and ever popular Granny 'D', the 'view' tax (higher real estate taxes if you have a nice 'view'), state-wide schools tax, race-based quotas for admissions and on-campus housing at UNH, increasing number 'nanny' laws being proposed, .... I could go on. I DO live in NH and have for the last 20 years - it has definitely and dramatically moved to the left - on the other hand - if this past winter becomes the standard - the weather has improved greatly (only 1 relatively mild Nor'easter and about 3 feet of snow in total - but it warmed enough to melt most of it away between storms) - but no one here believes that will hold.
I agree, it is moving to the left fast. Part of the reason is that "come heres" outnumber us natives by at least 2 to 1. But it's still by far the most conservative NE state. Our current dimmycrat gubberner don't seem like a bad feller. I have no doubt that he will easily win reelection.
Where's Steve Merrill when you need him?
