Whenever I listen for a laugh, I notice the lack of sponsorship.
All the ads seem to be public service announcements and they routinely lower themselves to begging for money on the air.
In addition, the public service spots are for AA, Narc-Anonymous, domestic abuse, anxiety disorders, and other assorted health issues.
The demographic they are targeting seems like they need as much help as Err America themselves.

That would be a question for the station management. Either they think that they could make more from other programming or there are non-financial issues at play there.

An Air America spokeswoman told The Post, "It's business as usual," and declined further comment. Business as usual? That could be taken to mean that the business has been doing badly and continues doing badly. So, the guy was, in a way, being truthful.

Or that they have found another Boys and Girls club to plunder - "Business as Usual".

I think the normal situation is that the station has to pay the program if they want to air it.

Doing it this way is more like giving them a bribe.

It's the equivalent of an infomercial. "Brokered radio", when the programmer pays the station, is considered the lowest of the low in the industry. Paul (pinged) told me that when the story came out (that AA was indeed brokered) during a major radio industry convention, much hilarity ensued.
