The thing with Helge Schneider is that he really is a genius: He has an IQ of at least 150 and plays several instruments since earliest childhood. It's just that most people don't really "get" him.

I think Levi is good choice for director. I know that his latest film "Go For Zucker" ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416331/ ) wasn't to the liking of American critics, because many of the film's jokes and the underlying melancholy are specific to post-reunification Germany and probably only work here. However, Levy has a keen eye for the German "Befindlichkeit" (~ attitude, mood).
