In spite of my user name (which relates to a quote from Mexican FM Derbez), I am "losing" as much of the Spanish I know as possible. There are hispanic illegals who know English but pretend they don't; I do the same in reverse.

In fact, I just came back from a job interview where I was asked how adept I am in Spanish. I played dumb.

Assimilation is a thing of the past.

Bush is shooting the Republican party in the foot by doing this.

Shooting the Rep party in the foot, my a**. If that's all that he was doing, I'd help with his aim and do some real damage.

Bush is shooting the country in the heart and that should not stand!!!

He is like Damien Thorn on this issue.

Its literally unreal that after 9/11 not only did the gov't do nothing about this problem, but made it worse.

Worse yet, when I was looking for a new job, some of the postings required receptionists to be bi-lingual.

I am bi-lingual. But probably they do not need Polish :(

Yes, should have made it 2012 for Jeb. The new wave of illegal Mexicans will have had time to register by then.

Wacko-In-Chief.

We conservatives can only shake our heads at the President's suicide-complex on display for all to see.

Or perhaps there is another even more cynical motive at play here.

Yes, there is. There is collusion "at the top." The policy differences between the parties..in terms of what is actually enacted...or more tellingly...enforced... shrivel into insignificance...

The RepublicRAT theory gains currency.

The GOP needs to be recaptured.

I've seen the abuse of the H1B program.

It is a good program when administered as it was intended.

However, politicians and less than honest companies are using the H1B to usurp immigration law.

Personally I would like to see a slow down, not a speed up in the issuance of non visitors visas.

Kinda reminds me of Bush Sr's. tepid campaign which allowed WJC to capture the WH even though he could've played several cards such as: Gennifer Flowers, Mena, etc.

I think youre a little off. No matter the demographic changes the country will go on and it wont be the end of the world. It will however not be the same America. We will essentially be part of latin america. Not something I want personally.

Shouldn't they be calling them "Take Jobs From Americans and Resident Aliens" cards?

All I know is that in 20 years our country's gonna be so fragmented by several different languages and cultures, that it's not even gonna resemble what it was in the 60s and 70s.

I'm tellin' ya, as the baby boomers die out, the swing in demographics is gonna be enormous in terms of what it does to this nation as a result.

In the future, we could resemble a mirrored version of Europe with each culture having its own country so to speak. You might have a Mexician/Hispanic country, maybe a "rump USA" somewhere, perhaps a country based on Judeo-Christian values, the Mormons might get their dream of an independent Deseret, maybe part of the Northeast will join Canada or whatever, who is to say?

However there is another possibility. The hue and cry will get so bad that there could be a rise of a party or person who will promise to fix everything. Think of Star Wars where Anakin Skywalker said to Padme where "the Republic is broken" and perhaps he might be the one to fix it. You might see a more authoritarian system to arise. The question in that case is, will our version of Anakin be willing to do it for the good of us or for himself? Only God knows, but that Anakin could and most likely is out there somewhere. He could be some young up and comer in a company working on making his fortune or he could be some kid in the ghetto or maybe a little baby crying his heart out since he is hungry and his mother has little to feed him giving him the drive in the future to pursue his ambitions. He might even be a soldier serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. Then again, maybe it might not be a "he" at all, but there could be an Anakin or Anakins out there.

I don't think I'm so far off actually. You have to remember our form of government, which is all based on voting. One man, one vote, .... unless of course your liberal, then all bets are off. LOL

Seriously however, I can easily see very weird things occurring regarding issues to get voted on which would essentially make as you say, certain states, perhaps regions, "part of Latin America." But I wouldn't be so sure as to how little that could damage our country. I think the results can be devastating in one form or another.

Fiest off, Specter's draft legislation which calls for the illegals to get a visa that is renewable infinitely is at odds with the Bush Plan which would limit the visa to a 3 year term that can be renewed once."

If you really believe this, you might be a liberal.

If anyone reading this wants to work for less money or lose their jobs, this is a good plan for them.

Hey, get with the program ! It's about 'competitiveness'. We need a Tancredo third party. We need an American nationalist party that will put America ahead of cheap labor globalism. Since such a party will dovetail precisely with the socioeconomic interests of Blacks (illegals will drive low income Blacks completely out of the labor market) it will do something the GOP has never been able to do. Attract substantial Black support.

I really meant to give up Freeping for Lent. Well, I swore to give up Freeping and playing Civilization. Maybe if I keep it up with Civilization God will have mercy on me.

You play Civilization? I like to play it too, I have Civ 1 and 2. Which ones do you play?

Not much substance in your post. It is impossible for me to determine if you are disputing:
That Specter's draft calls for an infinately renewable visa
That the Bush Plan calls for a visa for three years, renewable once
That these two are different
