Here's a couple of REAL "painters of light" - Albert Bierstadt and Thomas Cole - to take the taste out of our mouths . . .

Much better Kincade, but those mountains are just so geologically phony in the first one, that I can't stand it. And mountains don't look that way the light. In fact, the entire lighting effect is ersatz. The second painting is much more pleasing to me.

Oh thank you for the Hudson River art - it does, indeed, dilute the cotton candy taste

My taste in art is all over the place, no connoisseur, I. However, the second painting of the waterfall is the kind of art I like--because it reminds me of a favorite place I like to visit, Hamilton Pool, in Austin, TX.

Maybe that's another aspect of art that appeals to audiences or buyers - some connection to a pleasant memory in the mind's eye of the beholder. Whether it's "good" or "bad" doesn't matter that much.

FWIW, I don't like TK's stuff, and I *really* don't like Precious Moments, either. I tend to buy SW art and photography--at least, I used to when I had some discretionary income. It came after music, though.

Thanks for posting those pix.

I would recommend, also, Maxfield Parrish's landscapes. They are nice on the computer, but if you can see one in person, it's like the canvas is glowing. I would love to own one. (there is one @ the Phoenix art museum that I have to see every time we're there!)

Another great American artist, Edward Hopper.

Exactly- these are fine examples of light in painting..

Kincaid is to art what Yanni (speaking of people in trouble today!) is to music. Commercial and too cute by half.
