The Republican Party, especially Bush, has absolutely betrayed the American people on this issue. They are killing the country for [1] financial reasons or [2] because they think that bending to these crimaliens will somehow draw them into the party.

I was a registered Republican for 20 years. No more and this issue is the reason. Next election, I stay home. No more $$$ to the RNC either. No more volunteering on campaigns.

I agree with Pat Buchanan on this issue: If there are grounds for Bush's impeachment, it's not Iraq or the war on terror, it's his betrayal of the American people by failing to protect the borders so demonstrably. The man is absolutely shameful on this issue---it's Clintonesque.

Build a fence with troops on the border, deport the crimaliens back to the third, fourth and fifth world hell holes whence they came and jail anyone who hires or rents to crimaliens and the problem would be solved in a year.
Not only that: health care costs would drop, schools would be less crowded and less expensive, street crime would be reduced.

This is a no brainer. I wish to God I'd written in Buchanan or Tancredo in '04. This issue has made me ashamed I voted for Bush a second time.

Read the word of Bush prior to the election. It's not about money or pandering. He sees these people as more noble and deserving than the American people. He sees them as the "new America" and has always felt that way.

We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture.

Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende.

For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America.

As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico.

George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000.

You can read the speech here.

Here is an excerpt of a good critique of that speech:

In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. "and jail anyone who hires or rents to crimaliens and the problem would be solved in a year."
I used to work at Faurecia Interior Systems as an accountant near Simpsonville, SC. I ate lunch in the lounge one day and heard more Spanish than English. The perception is that immigrants take jobs that Americans don't want such as a janitor position. Not so.
Boone, NC: at Sugar Mountain ski resort, they employed Mexicans as parking lot attendants. It would have been nice if he could speak English because I had a question.

That sums it up in a nutshell as to the reason this invasion is not being halted by our pathetic government. It's being allowed for the sake of Money, Greed, Power.
