Maj. Roe continues a tired theory that the Brits had it right in 1923 and we just need to pick up where they left off after they were tossed out of India after WW2.

In all of his discussion, not a word of the massive opium business and the guerilla economy that it drives in Afghanistan.

Deputizing the warlords just gives them more power in their own fiefdoms.

As long as Al Qaeda and the Taliban pay better than we do there will be no peace. As long as Balochistan and Waziristan are safe havens for training camps and the opium trade there will be no peace.

Modern Khassadors would quickly be eliminated in this new era of jihadist driven, religion-based hatred and conflict funded by wealthy muslims and opium.

I think Maj. Roe is out of touch.

Exactly!

The integration of these local hooligans has always led to wide spread killings and even genocide. The Brits have tried this same nonsense all over the world and and it has always ended up in disaster. The French have done it as well.

I can't think of a single instance of success.
