Junior Gotti was 'sick of this life,' radio show host Kuby says
NEW YORK -- John "Junior" Gotti said in 1998 that he was "sick of this life" and would plead guilty to criminal charges, a lawyer who co-hosts a radio show with Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa testified Monday at Gotti's mob trial.
The testimony by Ron Kuby, a veteran civil rights attorney, was intended by defense lawyers to boost Gotti's argument that he had rejected life in the Gambino crime family when he pleaded guilty in 1999 to racketeering charges....
"He told me he was sick of this life," Kuby said. "He wanted this to be over."
...The testimony by Kuby put the radio personality in an odd position with Sliwa, who prosecutors say was shot twice in 1992 after Gotti ordered him kidnapped and beaten because of on-air rants against Gotti's father, John Gotti. The elder Gotti was convicted of racketeering in 1992 and died in prison a decade later.
Junior Gotti insists he had nothing to do with the attack on Sliwa....
On their radio show Monday morning before Kuby testified, Sliwa poked fun at his co-host, calling the liberal counterpoint to Sliwa's conservative viewpoints a Judas.
"Maybe you should be doing a radio show with John Gotti Jr.," Sliwa said.
Kuby said Sliwa had nothing to fear.
"I don't have a dog in this fight, outside of my allegiance to the truth," he said.

He represented the Long Island shooter too.
Kuby should be ashamed
Curtis was just on hannity... Curtis is super pissed at Kuby... He said he might have to do tomorrows show in a straight jacket! haha Fireworks are going to be flying tomorrow morning in WABC studios...
"Kuby should be ashamed"
He was subpoened to testify, now what he knew and when he knew it, who knows. But he had no choice.
I love their show, and I really hope this doesn't break up the act.
Thanks for posting this update Pyro.
Couldn't agree with you more. Mornings on WABC are unlistenable with those two yahoos on the air.
Faced with damning testimony from high-ranking rats, wiseguys are wising up to the fact that it's futile to deny they're in the mob.
It was once a violation punishable by death to publicly acknowledge one's membership in a crime family. But John A. (Junior) Gotti has done it. So too has a gaggle of gangsters in the hope the wiseguys can neutralize the government's weapons.
Mafia historian Thomas Reppetto recalled that Chicago gangster Joey (The Clown) Lombardo even took out an ad in a newspaper in 1992 to proclaim he wasn't in the Mafia anymore. Lombardo was indicted last year on a raft of charges.
