Washington, DC [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) announced that the U.S. ethanol industry set annual production records in 2005, producing just less than 4 billion gallons (3.904 billion gallons) and averaging nearly 255,000 barrels of ethanol production daily, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
"These figures represent not only the tremendous growth our industry is experiencing, but also the future growth that will occur," said RFA President Bob Dinneen.
"Demand for ethanol will only continue to grow as refiners remove MTBE from the marketplace and more Americans switch to this clean burning, renewable fuel," said Dinneen. "The U.S. ethanol industry, with 2.1 billion gallons of capacity currently under construction, will continue to expand to meet this soaring demand."
Currently, 95 ethanol plants have a combined production capacity of more than 4.3 billion gallons a year.

I'm trying not to confuse them with the facts; or at least research from third parties.

One sentence of fact is all the rebuttal anyone need note;
Brazil produces ethanol for a buck a gallon.
Next case!

It's very complicated. Please explain it to me. No, it's not very complicated.
You've claimed that raising and processing corn is energy inefficient and that you're familiar with why this is so. I can't explain it to you because it's not true.
To: Trinity5
I was up in Iowa a couple months ago and they were selling regular for $2.30 a gallon and E85 for $1.92 a gallon. If it cost more to produce why is it selling for less? Lamoni, Iowa to be exact, 1st town north on I35 across Missouri border.

if you're not gonna believe any documentation then why bother to show up? there is plenty of info out there on the success Brazil has had with ethanol production...
do your own research before you embarrass yourself on my threads any further!
WTF are you talking about? Do you dispute my claim that more politicians have been bought off by ethanol producers than in any other year previous?
And my threads? Who died and left you to be queen bee-otch?

I thought ethanol had about a 50 cent per gallon subsidy. And that it took 30% more ethanol to get the same mileage as a gallon of gas.

I really think someone on a high level has said,
"to hell with sand monkeys, we tried, we tried real hard, there's nothing we can do, they've always been this way, they'll always be this way, time to say good-bye!".
It's like a divorce is comin' after a long tumultuous marriage , but not all the kids know it yet.

There are two processes, natural fermentation and man made fermentation. To mass produce would require a higher energy process but to have more plants with the ability to allow a certain amount of natural fermentation would require less energy. Think of it as the difference between Jack Daniels and Granny's Hillside Producers.

The problem is the retards we have here think ethanol comes from corn. Not helpful. This is a question of ignorance, not intelligence. There are a lot of people like Toddsterpatriot who are smart but simply lack information.
Consider TP's question why we don't import Brazilian ethanol. It is a good one. I did not know that import duties make it prohibitive.
Folks like TP also have a visceral distaste because of the ADM association. Consequently their responses can be emotional at times. It is better to respond with information than name-calling. They'll come around.

You are right, there is less MPGs but to give OPEC the boot would be worth it to me.

It's an idea and that's what will get us past OPEC, ideas and implementation of ideas.

Consider TP's question why we don't import Brazilian ethanol. It is a good one. I did not know that import duties make it prohibitive.Rather than throwing billions at expensive corn ethanol, we could easily import cheap Brazilian ethanol, if the idea was to reduce oil imports. It's not. The idea is to buy votes.

Try a $.52 a gallon federal tax credit. I'm not sure about Iowa but Minnesota gives a $.20 a gallon subsidy. And in Minnesota they "donated" $212 million for plant construction. Heck with no overhead you can charge alot less.
