Jon Stewart was great. Every other time I looked he was sending another volley across the Hollywood liberal's bow.
I am not a Jon Stewart fan. But last night he was spot on in some of his jokes.
The killer remark for me was the point when Morgan Freeman was presenting the theme of how Hollywood was in the forefront confronting such issues as racism/intolerance/cruelty/injustice ( scenes from such classics as To Kill a Mockingbird, Schindler's List, Philadelphia, On the Waterfront, Grapes of Wrath, etc. were being shown ).
After the theme was presented, Jon Stewart DEAD-PANED :
"AS A RESULT... NONE OF THOSE PROBLEMS EVER OCCURED AGAIN !!"
That remarked elicited a big roar of laughter from the crowd.

"AS A RESULT... NONE OF THOSE PROBLEMS EVER OCCURED AGAIN !!" And why didn't they show George Clooney after that? Was he stuck in front of the bathroom mirror and missed it?

I didn't like Jon Stewart before last night, but he was courageous in consistently making fun of the ridiculous politics and marketing approaches of the Academy and their members. I also enjoyed Colbert's Oscar political campaign commercial parodies.
I heard today that Stewart did last night's show gratis and the Academy now has until 3 pm today to sign him for next year for $1 million. I don't think they'll rehire him after so may jokes at their expense, and maybe he doesn't care since he has already greatly broadened his appeal.
