Sadly the Turks are no longer our friends.

I lived in Izmir in the 60s as a NATO dependent - and while the Turks were sort of floundering between civilization and their wild 'Taras Bulba' roots, they were a reliable ally to the US.

Since their refusal to cooperate with us during our invasion of Iraq, they have fallen into the dung pile of history, in my opinion.

As I said once before, Attaturk would be NOT be proud of his people today.

Never been our friends.
See...a former powerful Ottoman Empire, now the Turks beg at the entrance of European Union. An most probably they do not get in it. Feel their pain(humiliation)...
