Today, treatments for neurological diseases using umbilical cord blood is being taken forward by countries outside the United States, including China, as FDA approval takes longer.

But you can find "Plan B" at Walmart.

Hungarian baby treated with umblical cord stem cells following stroke

Hungarian baby treated with umblical cord stem cells following stroke (3rd March 2006)

A premature Hungarian baby which suffered from brain damage and muscle weakness on her left side, caused by a stroke, and facing possible paralysis in the future, has been successfully treated using umbilical cord stem cells.

Doctors at Nanshan People's Hospital in Shenzhen China treated Timea Gresco, the four month old baby girl, delivering umbilical cord stem cells intravenously for two months. After the treatment, her left side had regained nearly as much strength as her right side.

The biotech company, Shenzhen Bieke Biotechnology provided the umbilical cord stem cells and Hungarian doctors verified the treatment with a two-month evaluation. This could be the world's youngest patient ever treated for this condition with umbilical cord stem cells.
