By "our economy", you must be referring to the world economy. It wouldn't be bad for the US economy to bring these management responsibilities in-house.
No, I mean our economy. Most of our goods come by ship. If we disrupt shipping, we disrupt our economy.
And American companies got out of the terminal business years ago. There are only a few small American companies doing the jobs now. It wasn't profitable. In our other ports (and in some of the same ones) terminals are run by companies based in Hong Kong, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and Denmark.
Since private business won't take on this work, are you suggesting that the gov't should take it over????
