Not only did 'March of the Penguins win,' but the best of the four documentary shorts, 'A Note of Triumph' also won. Even though it had Studs Terkel showing he's an asinine senile fart and gave face time to Norman Lear, it did succeed as a documentary.

I heard someone say (it may not be true anymore with all the Oscar hype) that MotP made more money than any of the best picture nominees.
