Well, you do get a choice: socialist pro-Americans (R) or socialist traitors (D).
Newt Gingrich for president? Do you really think he could make it? I saw him in 1980 speaking to a group of Georgia Republican delegates. There was this buzz about the young Mr. Gingrich and his political career. I'd like to see him back in, frankly.
To whom? The MSM? The Dems? LOL!
If Bush could run again he would be the next president, despite blathering about negative poll numbers. LOL!!
It is not hard to figure the GOP winning being what the democraps have to offer. But if a nuke goes off in the US and it is traced coming over the Mexican border...The republicans are in a heap a trouble.
Then you'd better hope the polls in prove because I see a lot of conservatives staying home.
AMEN!
I think ole Newt could make it. Some think he has to much baggage but I don't think has has any more baggage then Bush had if even that. And he certianly is one smart cookie and can articulate his position a hell of a lot better then Bush.
As Evil grows more and more common, we get angry at Good for somehow not doing enough to protect us from it. We start thinking that Good maybe aint all that good, anyhow. Then we throw up our hands in disgust, and let Evil take over the agenda by giving up and doing nothing to stop it. Finally, as Evil gains momentum, we join it in attacking the Good, just so we dont have to stand with the losers. This is the biggest problem we have, in that many Conservatives just dont want to be wrong.
Wow, PD. Those are the the two most profound paragraphs you have ever written. Good job. No matter where one is on the conservative spectrum, this HAS to be a sobering point:
It amazes me that when Conservatism is one vote away from winning the 40 year battle over Roe-v-Wade, some you would risk that opportunity with a Democrat-controlled Congress because you dont want some Mexican citizen to have the legal right to pick your Strawberries.
I just finished reading Micheal Medved's Right Turns this weekend. He pointed out that there are two types on the left and the right: The pragmatists and the perfectionists. Pragmatists win and make progress while perfectionists loose, but stand around arrogantly basking in the righteous glow of their political purity.
Well, I am a pragmatist, which by definition around here makes me a Bushbot. I am content to know that I actually make a difference in the world and move the conservative agenda forward. It is sometimes sloppy, and never perfect...but forward progress should be reason enough.
One of your best, sir. Thank you for the ping, the pep talk, and the great big grin plastered on my face. What a welcome relief from the detritus that has been trying to pass itself off as reasoned conservatism around here.
Awesome post PD!
BTTT!
Sooooo, if the polls were better you would vote?
Dogs rule!
History will prove you both wrong. IMHO
And certain people on Free Republic are praying for it to happen.
Democrat hopes will be definitively shut down if/when the clash with Iran comes. I have been reflecting in my impatience that Bush was wimping out on the necessary action but the little things in the news day on day look mightily like Mr. W is getting the US's diplomatic ducks one-by-one in a row for doing the deed.
I think we'll keep both Houses, probably breaking even or losing one seat in the Senate, and losing about 3 in the House.
I agree that we'll probably keep both Houses, although I'd put the likely loss in the Senate at 2-3 seats, and I'm a bit more worried about the House.
Please. Only a fool bets on politics or women.
Only a fool turns down a bet when the odds are substantially in his favor. I made quite a significant chunk of cash from the scaredy-cats on Tradesports who believed the exit polls in 2004.
Obviously, there will be no disappointment for you. You already have figured out the entire scenario on how we are going to lose big time.
I will be disappointed; I should not have implied that I wouldn't be. What I won't be is surprised. And yes, I've figured out the scenario by looking at the seats in play, looking at which incumbents and open seats for which party are vulnerable, and seeing how things are likely (not certain, but likely) to play out.
I'll just stay at home and not vote. - We have already lost.
I always vote, even when I'm certain to lose. I lived in one of the bluest districts in California, and I still turned out to vote for the doomed GOP candidates in the House, Senate, and local races. Voting is a civic duty, even when you know you'll lose.
After all, you said so. LOL!
I said so and I explained my reasons, in contrast to Pukin Dog who said otherwise and called dissenters idiots and morons.
What is going to happen is that we are going to vote and guess what? thats all that we need
Bet me. Please.
Enough of you curmudgeon provocations already. The air is adequately full of negative ions! Telling the truth in love is extremely more effective (even your own personal truth can sometimes be relative).
I am telling the truth. It's a disappointing and uncomfortable truth, but it's the truth nonetheless. Spouting off optimistic predictions based on mindless cheerleading and blindness to the facts, now that's not telling the truth.
Not being a hippy-freak liberal, I don't believe in "negative ions" impacting outcomes, nor do I believe that we can make something happen just by "visualizing" it. The route to victory lies in recognizing where you're weak, not pretending that weakness doesn't exist.
Y'mean that guy who's so far up Hitlery's @$$ that he can't put forth a coherent thought? YEARRGH!
