Unfortunately, this is a trend, said Candido Morales, director of an institute for Mexicans living abroad. Making life difficult for people who aren't legal, but who contribute to both the U.S. and Mexican economies. So we are supposed to make life easy for those that break the law? Give me a break.... Let's look into how Mexico treats people who are in their country illegally. Oh wait, that's been done already and it wasn't pretty....

Arizona's would tax all wire transfers out of the country. That would have really pissed me off when I was supporting my wife overseas with transfers. This would have cost me hundreds.
As far as illegals, interesting idea.

It's not a tax, es una inversión para los ninos.

" Hill said it would go into Georgia's indigent health care and education which illegal immigrants often use themselves. "
God Forbid they'd have to pay for at least part of the benefits they receive here...
We should tax whats sent home and then SUBTRACT the total amount ( not just the tax dollars) from the foreign aid we send them on top of it.

They don't pay taxes here but take a free ride on our public services? And its unfair of us to require them to pay their share of it? Mexico needs to stop bitching and grow up. How about exempting all those Americans living in Mexico from Mexican taxes? Do that and there might be something to discuss. Otherwise do sit down and shut up. Its our country.

That's the fastest growing industry in the part of Houston where I live.
On every corner, there are institutions of money-changers -- small shops which advertise "wire money". People line up, every Friday night after getting paid -- to send U.S. dollars to their people in Mexico.
I imagine hearing the combination of a loud sucking noise and the caa-ching, caa-ching of money being flushed down the toilet.

Yes, yes, yes! I can't believe they're really doing it--a no-brainer. The money's leaving, won't help our economy--tax it.

Could the Mexican gov. be any more obvious? America is their second largest source of income. Combine that with the oil We buy from them and they're total dependents.

The Foreign Ministry said it also was following the Arizona bill's progress and could take legal action should either proposal become law.
Grande cajones for thinking they have any say in the matter. What they don't seem to understand is that by meddling in our governmental affairs they are only strengthening the resolve of those of us who are determined to control this crisis.
The Mexican-born population living in the United States is 9.9 million, according to figured cited by the Mexican Embassy in Washington.
That means the real figure is probably north of 20 million. What a bunch of corrupt liars.

So, at what point is the distinction between an "illegal" alien and a legal resident made when it comes to money transfers, and who checks on an individual's immigration status at the point of purchase for the money transfer service?
This is a hidden tax on all money transfers being sold as a patriotic move to "punish" illegal aliens.
In the end, everyone transferring money will be taxed.
