I agree about FEMA being made its own department, once again.
I just hope that CONGRESS remembers that THEY are the ones the "built" the Department of Homeland Security, with the "help" of the 9/11 Commission....so, I don't want to hear "Bush's fault" at all.
Sure, the "Bush had never vetoed a bill" crowd can complain that he didn't veto it....but he would have had the Jersey Girls protesting outside the White House like Cindy Sheehan has.
535 members of the US House and Senate are quick to take any credit they think they can claim, but they are loathe to take repsonsibility for any blame for what they've done wrong.
Not exactly - Congress built it, yes, but surprisingly, NOT in reaction to the terrorist attack of 9/11/2001. See post 198 and its associated link. The attack of 9/11 made the construction an easy sell to the public, similar to the easy sell of federalizing airport security. "One must federalize in order to professionalize."
