"She's playing right into Osama's hands, and undermining our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, WHY stay in Iraq if they are just going to turn against us?"
I believe her basic thesis that true Islam is the common enemy to be correct. However, I also see your point and think your question is valid.
I felt that "regime" change was necessary in both Iraq and Afganistan - the president did the right thing. I am also starting to think it will be necessary in Iran also.
What we didn't do, and probably should have in both cases, is absolutely make it clear that an Islamic state is totally unacceptable to the West. We do NOT want to abolish Islam, just its control over the machinery of government. It can have a say, but not the biggest say or the final say. Also, we should have ensured TOTAL freedom of religon in those countries. If ever I saw a place where "hate crimes" legislation was appropriate, it is in those areas. Burning, etc. a mosque, church, synagoge, or any place of worship by the citizens of those countries should be a capitol offense (although most of them kill themselves doing it anyway).
You know, I really don't have a clue what should be done, and will now shut up. Sorry.
You have it right.
In a matter of two sentences, you completely contradict yourself. The religion of Islam and the Islamic world are one in the same. That's what makes the WOT so diifcult. You can't separate the Islamic religion from the Islamic society and culture. They're one in the same.
