Yep, but according the this lady what was the point of endangering our men, trying to setup democracy in both places when they are just aganst us anyhow. I guess she feels our soldiers who have died since the capture of Saddam have been a waste?

The troops who have died have died doing their job, which is to kill those who are hostile to us and to prevent them from taking over the government of Iraq. Democracy is too strong a term for what we are, in a poistivly, trying to do. It is to set up a popular government with whom we can deal on the same terms as Pakistan. My guess is thast we have been undercut by our allies, such as Saudi Arabia, which would still like Iraq to be controlled by a Sunni Arab government, and is playing a double game. Helping us and helping the insurgents, not letting their left hand know what their right hand is doing.

"Yep, but according the this lady what was the point of endangering our men, trying to setup democracy in both places when they are just aganst us anyhow. I guess she feels our soldiers who have died since the capture of Saddam have been a waste?" Don't think that's quite what she's saying. We're planting a seed for democracy and reform that the Iraqis can either choose to nurture and grow, or let wither in the desert. We owe it to the Iraqis to give it a shot after deposing Saddam. The fact that we're still having to declare Martial Law 4 years into the occupation gives me doubts as to where this will end up. (unstable puppet-regime, similar to Soviet-era satellites, IMHO) You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Imposing order in a country halfway around the globe is a pricey deal. $400-billion dollars could do a lot of good in American coffers (tax cuts, border wall, deficit reduction, et c.,.). Your thoughts on how long we should keep on with MOTS pandering to a rabid ideology, before taking steps to deal with the root of the problem, and preventing the spread at home?
