President Bush is not only dealing with angry liberals who blame him for everything, including natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina.
But even some conservatives are breaking ranks against the president.
No matter that Bush revived an economy that was set to tailspin into recession or worse after the dot-com bubble. Nor is there much praise for Bush for keeping the country safe. Since Sept. 11, America has suffered no major terror attacks on U.S. soil.
"If Bush wins, there will be a civil war in the Republican Party starting on Nov. 3.
Bruce Bartlett, a Reaganite economist, wrote that in 2004, long before the Dubai ports deal exploded into the headlines and drove a wedge between the President, his Republican troops and millions of pro-Bush supporters across the country.
Now hes making more grim predictions for the president, for the future of the GOP and the United States.
The title of the first chapter of Bartletts new book, "The Imposter How George W. Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy, says it all: "I know Conservatives and George Bush is no Conservative.

I'd have to basically disagree with that.
Let's get the gov involved! That's the ticket!
He's right. It is unconstitutional. Clearly. But then, so is 99 percent of what the Federal government does.
It's OK to vent now and again.
And you owe me a pie for listening attentively and with empathy.
~waiting for Mrs. Pendance's next post where she asks, "what's your favorite kind!?"~
Yes and I'm getting sick of it. I thank God every day for President Bush and how he has kept the economy going and kept us safe since 911. These are the biggies and the "BushBashers" just just can't take it. I love my Country and the left has just about driven everybody into their insane state of mind. Enough is enough.
Pretty harsh, don't you think?
......... well said.
No, just accurate when you consider CFR, Doubling the size of the Dept. of Edu., Prescription drug fiasco, increasing the size and cost of government, etc.
Who is this clown? Was he in the Reagan adminstration? Is he a Pat Buchanan style paleo-con?
The Real Bush Record Bush Is a Big Government President, Not a Conservative
President Bush is presented by his friends and his opponents as a conservative President. But George W. Bush has in no way governed as a conservative. He has been one of the most egregiously big government Presidents in recent history.
Under President Bush, the Republican Party has become the party of big government. The government has grown bigger and bigger, with more agencies, bureaucracies and enforcement programs. This president and a Republican Congress have given us an 8.2 percent annual increase in discretionary domestic spending (that's non-defense, non-entitlement), far greater than anything during the Clinton administration or any other administration since Richard Nixon's. This administration has given us the largest new entitlement program in almost four decades.
President Bush has yet to veto a single spending bill. Yet he now threatens to veto any bill stopping the secret Portgate deal.
President Bush refuses to secure our borders. He has proposed a de facto amnesty for illegal aliens. He has given us an unconstitutional campaign-finance law that prohibits corporations and unions from talking about any federal candidate 60 days before an election.
This administration gave us a massive federal education spending bill, a function not authorized by the Constitution, without even school choice or other reform provisions. It gave us a massive agricultural subsidy bill. Then it gave a massive insurance bailout to supplement the massive agriculture bill. It gave us steel tariffs.
President Bush has allowed some stem-cell research. He has created new programs for the government to spy on ordinary, law-abiding Americans with the Patriot Act. While parts of the Patriot Act, such as tearing down the wall that prevented intelligence people from sharing information with law-enforcement people, are necessary, the potential for abuse of the sneak-and-peek, the library provisions, and other sections is very real, given the kind of future leader who would abuse them. We have seen Presidents like that before, such as Richard Nixon, LBJ, and Bill Clinton.
The Bush administration apologized to China after a U.S. spy plane collided with a Chinese plane, instead of demanding an apology from the Chinese for this act. This is not a conservative record. It is the record of a "me-too" liberal Republican.
Question: How many elections have the Republicans lost since this stupid law was passed?
Me too, and the bashers can go straight to hell
Good point about the usage bythe enemies.

One final note on George W. Bushs management style and his Harvard Business School background does not derive from the classroom, per se. One feature of life there is that a subculture of poker players exists. Poker is a natural fit with the inclinations, talents, and skills of many future entrepreneurs. A close reading of the odds, combined with the ability to out-psych the opposition, leads to capital accumulation in many fields, aside from the poker table.
By reputation, the President was a very avid and skillful poker player when he was an MBA student. One of the secrets of a successful poker player is to encourage your opponent to bet a lot of chips on a losing hand. This is a pattern of behavior one sees repeatedly in George W. Bushs political career.
He is not one to loudly proclaim his strengths at the beginning of a campaign. Instead, he bides his time, does not respond forcefully, at least at first, to critiques from his enemies, no matter how loud and annoying they get. If anything, this apparent passivity only goads them into making their case more emphatically.
I remember, 6th grade. I had a pretty cool teacher. He was a guy teacher, my first man teacher. He was 5'1" tall, and stout, probably more round than tall, a nice natural ceasar hairdo, kind of gray. I was taller than him at eleven years old. We had 3 really troublesome boys in our class. Two were buddies and probably thought up ways to instigate just to appear cool.
One boy, he was real trouble, he could blow cigarette smoke out of his lungs after 4 hours of not having a cigarette (11-12 years old, 1970). We all pretty much ignored him. He was trailer trash. One day, he started bucking off to our teacher, his name was "rocko", a shorthand for his full name, but everyone just called him "rocko", even the other teachers and principal called him that.
Anyway, this lung person who could produce cigarette smoke at 11 am out of his lungs after not smoking for 3 hours in the 6th grade, pissed off Rocko something bad. I don't recall what he did, but Rocko lifted him up by the back of his waist pants and threw him out of the classroom.
What does this have to do with this thread?

Yes, Mame.
You're right. Non-stop reporting of current events, amplified through 24 hour cable broadcasts does have a tendency to wear thin on folks. But the Bush WH has also shown no expertise in public relations. Whereas the Reagan WH knew how to handle the media&press most of the time, Bush seems to be purposely thumbing his nose at the media&press. Reagan didn't kowtow to the "fourth estate", but he didn't ignore them either. Bush doesn't seem to care a wit about what coverage he gets and that translates into a hostile media&press, and poor polling trends. Unlike the Reagan WH, the Bush43 WH seems to have difficulty getting its message out on a consistent basis. Bush has the Bully Pulpit. He should've learned how to use it to his advantage and instead of pissing it away. Reagan knew how to use the Bully Pulpit. When Reagan couldn't get satisfaction, he went over the media's head and made direct appeals to the American people. It worked ever time. With the Bush fatigue factor setting in a bit early, it maybe too late for Bush to get his PR problems straightened out.
You may know the answers if you read the article.
Stupid law......... stupid question?
It's all yours.
;-)
Or do you think someone is blowing smoke?
