No it's not, it's the fraction that don't think a national CCW/CHL law would reduce the rates of violent crime. Even John Lott's survey data doesn't indicate that CHL produces drastic reductions in crime rates, just some. Remember that even if the intended victim of a crime comes out on top, a crime has still been committed. I guess many of the 37% don't think criminals are bright enough to be deterred. I imagine that's from their frequent contact with the criminal element.
You have to have a permit that has to be renewed just to posses a pistol, even in your own home? I checked the NRA-ILA site on the PRoT gun laws. After reading all thatI wanted to barf, and also wash off my eyeballs. I'd be putting a sign on my door that was popular around the 1820s and 1830s in much of the Northeast and Old South.
:)
Sounds like you've made it very simple for yourself. Enjoy your assumption.
Shifting to a different note, what took you so long to go after your carry permit? :-)
Any appointed police official holds the opinion of the mayor or supervisors, any elected official holds his own.
Smart criminals don't ignore gun control laws. They exploit them.
I'm a simple guy with a simple mind. :)
I think what clinched it for me was my move to Lafayette, La. Where being armed is common place. And the cops are not fascists. That, and the article on how that John Q. Public greased that perp in Baton Rouge. I decided it was time for me to stand up and be counted.
Living in New Orleans, I would not have considered it. They are as hostile there against gun toting Americans as in south Florida. He He! Just kidding.
