Little Girl Walks Mile For Help After Car Wreck

POSTED: 4:27 pm EST March 4, 2006

MATOAKA, W.Va. -- A 7-year-old may have saved her grandmother's life after their SUV flipped in rural West Virginia.

Authorities said the vehicle slipped off a mountain road and rolled at least seven times. The adult was trapped -- but the child was able to wiggle out, climb a 100-foot hill and walk more than a mile for help.

A Mercer County sheriff's office spokesman said little Danyelle Kinser only had a few scratches and bruises, but kept her cool and "managed to save" her grandmother's life.

The grandmother said the family is proud of Danyelle, who is known for always being ready to help people.

Danyelle deserves a pony! Searchers may have taken days to spot the vehicle way down a 100 foot gully.

Me, too. I have a 7 year old daughter and although I'd like to think she'd do the same for me, I'm currently having visions of her finding help, asking them for string cheese and a SpongeBob video and then remembering that I was in the car after it dawned on her that she needed help with her homework.

LOL

Well, actually, when shocked out of their usual safe routines, kids can be amazingly responsible.

Catholic theology lets children this age go to communion, on the grounds that seven is the age of reason. Some children, of course, reach this level years before.
