Oscar Goody Bags Taxable, IRS Declares From Reuters March 4, 2006 The Internal Revenue Service warned Academy Awards performers and presenters that the gift bags handed out during Sunday's televised ceremony — valued in some estimates at more than $100,000 — are taxable income. "We want to make sure the stars 'walk the line' when it comes to these goody bags," IRS Commissioner Mark Everson said, referring to an Oscar-nominated film about the late country singer Johnny Cash.

Hey...it's about time. Let these rich, pampered Hollywood Marxist brats put their money where their big mouths are.

Come on Hollyweird...pay those taxes until it hurts!

Do Rob "Meathead" Reiner proud and pay those federal taxes on your goody bags. These Hollywood meatheads need to practice what they are alwyas preeching to us "unwashed masses."

Well, that ends that practice.

Imagine being a nominated sound engineer and getting coupons for seaweed wraps that you have to pay the IRS $30000 for. No thanks.

I would love to know just what is in these "goody bags" that could make it worth $100,000. Maybe a kilo of blow?

Yup... you got that right.

The left/Liberals are always crying about " Taking from the rich " or " taxing the rich or making them pay their fair share ".
opps, I forgot, it's only a " FAIR TAX " if it is a EVILLLLLLL REPUBLICAN/CONSERVATIVE " rich person who is taxed.
well,, Liberals ? put your money were your mouth is.
I think this is a fair tax if I ever seen one, those liberal Hollywood elitist can afford this.
We will see the hypocrisy soon, just watch and see, they will say that President Bush's feds are after them, or say that this is some kind of government persecution.

The IRS should take a closer look at the creative accounting practices of the Hollywood studios instead of goody bags. This is like cops ticketing jaywalking.

Fox has made a big deal of showing us these goody bags over the last couple of days. Showing these has not made me more interested in the Academy Awards.

Instead, these over-the-top gifts to a bunch of people who spend their time mocking my family's religious beliefs, politics, morals, and taste is causing me to foreswear any movie-watching for the next year. And if Fox thinks we think it is swell to see how these over-paid nimcompoops are lavished with luxury trinkets, I daresay they are simply demonstrating how out-of-touch they have become with their viewer base, although I have seen plenty of evidence of this over the last few years, beginning with the hiring of Geraldo.

They'll just donate the things to charity, like most already do. Then, they'll deduct the donation.

Perhaps someone needs to report them individually to the IRS for the goodies from last year and the previous year.

One of the bags shown on Fox had included a weekend at a very exclusive hotel in Hawaii, worth $25,000.

What is in those bags? Are they worth $100,000 each or $100,000 in total?

It's no wonder these people are so out of freakin' touch with normal people.

Is there a poll? How many people are even gonna watch that crap?

It's gonna be a Brokeback and and anti-morality Love-in!

My best guestimate...

Free coupons to Planned Parenthood for abortion services

An ounce of "medical marijauna"

Two weeks of free re-hab at the Betty Ford Clinic

A Che Guevara t-shirt

A copy of Karl Marx's "The Communist Manifesto"

Now here is a small list of what should really be in those "gift bags"

Laura Ingraham's book "Shut Up and Sing!"

Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged"

A lifetime membership to the NRA

A Holy Bible

A copy of the U.S. Constitution and The Federalist Papers

A Hummer H2

Maybe these "new and improved" gift items would adjust their attitudes...nah, probably not.

Maybe we should handout copies of the Fairtax book to these leftist oscar goers.

Wonder if the gifts that are not used, such as vacation trips, etc.......that are not taken, are still taxed?
