This is hysteria. I don't like the idea of UAE owning ports, but I don't have a problem with nor see the danger in England owning a power plant in Sheboygan. And what about the Internet? Isn't that "critical infrastructure". I would say it is.

I totally support this legislation. ONLY Americans should be running American ports. Our lives are at stake in this worldwide battle against barbarians. The only reason we have any foreign ownership of port activities is the American people had not been previously told about it.

If we Americans all have to be searched like criminals before we fly on American airliners, we can demand tight control, by Americans, of America's ports.

It depends on the meaning of the word "critical". And does anyone own the Internet?

I think we should own our ports and those of our enemies. Say we owned Murmansk. I'm sure the Russians would be fine with that. Or how about Shanghai, yeah, the Chinese wouldn't see that as a threat. Matter of fact, just to be fair, we should own Mecca, and charge an entrance fee, but only once a year, during the "tourist" season. Its just business right? No need to get upset. Mussies wouldn't get their panties in a wad or set off their little turbanbombs, whats all the fuss!? sarc off.

OK. The UAE won't be "owning" some of our ports. They will be running them.

I don't like the idea of the UAE running our ports. But I still don't have a problem with England owning a power plant in Sheboygan.

I don't even know if you can say they will be "running" out ports. American citizens will be "running" them.

P&O has terminals in more than 100 ports in 18 countries(Not to mention the ones DP World already had) and we are the only ones freaking out. Maybe that should tell you something.

Isn't it you Bushophiles who are always insisting that we vote (R) if only to keep the evil (D) away?
It seems that all gets thrown out the window when an (R) goes against official Bushie policy.

Does Mr Hunter have any companies in mind? If they haven't built up the capacity/infrastructure to run American terminal operations and if they haven't got the will or the money to bid for those terminal operating companies, like P&O, that are up for sale, then just who/what does he have in mind? Could it be the Federal government?

Americans do already run our ports, as well as own them. Americans are completely in charge of security. Americans are in foreign ports, doing security on cargoes bound to/thru the US.

I am an old lady. I flew to Hawaii in November, which was my first flight since 9/11. I was not searched "like a criminal". My purse and carryon were xrayed going in and I had to pass thru a magnetometer. Coming home, I had to take off my shoes at Maui, which the only time in 6 times thru security, and pass thru the magnetometer. All bags were searched and tested for explosives &/or drugs. It was polite, fast, efficient at both ends of the trip. I was not wanded and there was no intrusive personal search. It wasn't much different, except for the one shoe check, then any of the times I have flown previously. The horror stories I had read had me quite anxious, but it was really not a big deal.

If I can deal with change and with reality at my age, I frankly expect the same from those who are younger. I really wish everyone would get a grip. Every nation/culture has more than a few of their own barbarians.

Duncan might be more concerned about this deal than the terminal business.

No, they will be running some terminals in some of our ports.

Retired Marine and 29 year Longshoreman on Fox stated, "I love my country, I served my country with honor. I have been on this dock for 29 years, through buyouts and mergers. NOTHING will change except the decals on these trucks. Do you think that I would be for this deal if I thought our security was at risk? I have NO problem with this deal going through"

No argument, just makes more sense Hunter's reaction considering he is on the Armed Services Committee. I would not mind having old bjclinton being called in to explain his role, considering his woman serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Good for him.
Now, are you saying that folks should not vote for Duncan Hunter in '06?
