Are you kidding? I didn`t know that, I thought only the Germans were doing that. 60 years old, lol! Can you imagine some 20 year old Sargeant giving orders to a 60 year old?

Like others have indicated, I've never heard or read that.
Do you have a reference?

My dad was too young for WWI and when WWII broke out, he was in his thirties and working as a laborer at Ford in Detroit. His plant started building airplanes and workers for the most part were exempt from the draft. He did tell me stories about how names were sent directly to the draft boards if a worker was habitually late for work or otherwise screwing up.

During World War II all men between 18 and 65 were required to register with selective service but only those 18 to 45 were liable for conscription.
