Thank-you for your responses.

They were the only positive ones I read...

..and I have a vested interest, as my son just moved to northern California for a job move...

He's young, single, conservative, and a Christian.

To be honest, he initially wasn't looking forward to the move...it's so far from family and long time friends...

..but the area he relocated to is truly beautiful and a great opportunity for his profession.

Thanks for saying nice things about the state.

Our state, Florida, gets a lot of negative flac too, as you can guess.

But I've lived here 30 years, and love it....don't want to leave it.

Even in San Francisco, the center of Sodom & Gomorrah according to many FReepers, there are over 1,000 churches:

Calif is just like any other state, only nicer. Go into any suburb, and you'll find the same families doing the same activities (visiting family/friends, watching junior's Little League game, etc), going to the same churches, etc as the rest of the country.

For some reason, Calif sends normally rationale FReepers over the edge. Just envy, I guess. (Parting shot: Yosemite is around 1 hr away from where FR's servers are located. People in Fresno think nothing of packing up the car and visiting for a day. Try doing that anywhere else.)
