Pot crusader Marc Emery says his appearance on the news program 60 Minutes on Sunday will be an opportunity for Americans to see him as just an ordinary guy who regards himself as the Luke Skywalker against their government's Darth Vader tactics.

Hemp fuel could be used in trucking, trains and power plants. That would free up enough petroleum to lower the price of gasoline considerably. Here in the US, we pump more oil from our own wells than we import from the mideast. Hemp would allow us to break free from the mideast mess.

What are the complication factors preventing us from doing that?
How about this? If Canada has allowed cultivation of hemp for commercial purposes, they could process it into fuel and sell it to us.

The only complication is drug war politics.
Canada profits by refining our crude and selling it back to us. Hemp fuel has a lower profit margin than petroleum.

When I said that, I anticipated that you'd have a reasonable reply to explain why it wouldn't work.
Why does hemp fuel have to have a lower profit margin and where has it been proved? It is cheap to cultivate and process and that expands the profit margin. Plus, they could virtually name their price and I bet it'd still be cheaper than petrol.

Oil prices are controlled by a cartel. Monopolies profit
Oil is pumped out of the ground. Drillers profit.
Oil is shipped by super tankers. Shipping companies profit.
Oil is refined. Refineries profit.
Hemp prices are determined by the free market. Consumers profit.
It is cheaper to grow hemp than drill and pump oil. Farmers profit.
No super tankers needed...The oil is available from farmers where it is needed. Consumers profit.
No refineries needed. Hemp can be processed into fuel on the farm. Farmers profit.
During the depression farmers powered their farm equipment with hemp oil. They couldn't afford petroleum because oil industry profits could not be cut enough to sell petroleum at a price farmers could afford.

LOL... No, questions need to be answered. Like proof...Many want proof, but there can be no proof without a free market. Bill Gates once said that no one needs more that 640k. If we based the computer industry on proof, the PCs we are using to post on this forum would never have been invented.
Hemp is illegal. There can be no proof while it is illegal. Science "proved" heavier than air flight would never be practical. Science "proved" that if we tried to land on the moon we would sink into the dust.
Let the free market prove or disprove hemp.

Being illegal alters economies all over the world, though.
Take a pot-growing country (Mexico, Afghanistan, Nigeria...) They grow pot but selling it on a black market turns sky-high profits. They have no desire to turn it into paper. If it were legal, those countries' economies would have a chance of stabilizing.

Sure, those are countries with no drug problems. Their crime is caused by our drug war. Only the criminals benefit from illegal drugs. Legal hemp would be good for Mexican farmers. Hemp could be grown on marginal land and the oil exported to the US. Farmers there could make a living at home instead of crossing the border into the US.

One could almost construe that having marijuana illegal in the US is a form of restraint of trade.

i see the same symptoms with religion...what's your point?

Thanks for those posts! I just finished reading it all! that took a good time! I have read every single one of them after i did that reply 432, and i have made a conclusion: mojave was the most influencial element of the discussion...
He has proved by himself all alone that he couldn't refute any of your posts (i am talking about the IN topic ones) and still be convince of his argumentation without considering any of the facts mentionned (unless it was off topic) I especially enjoyed reading that line : did you see the spell button under the tagline?" Where are you getting all this creativity Mojave?? If i had a god other than nature, it would be you! I would at least get a good laugh by going to church!
So really i wasn't sure if i was preaching the good thing by telling to people that legalized marijuanna wouldn't hurt (even after i saw Grass, posted on numerous other forums, after reading on the subject for more than 2 years now, etc...) there was still that lil thing behind my head that was telling me, maybe you should reconsider or know a lil more about the subject, but Mojave made it all happen! I now understand a bit more the truth all in honor to you!
Best regards
PS: yes i saw the spell button but know i didn't click on it!! what a loser i am, i cannot show the other posters, under false intention, that i spell right!!

Nature is truth uncluttered by hidden agendas. Can't go wrong with Nature!

Since 3/3, when headsonpikes posted this thread, I've done an immense amount of research. Back in the late 60's I had read a couple books about it, but around '70, all that stuff was made illegal and it all vanished, no more resources.
The Internet sure has changed that! Thirty-five years after this study subject was ripped out of my hands, I google marijuana and cannabis and now there is no limit to the info.
Oddly, much of the data coincides with what I turned to when the pot issue vanished, people's attitudes toward laws, an excellent subject now with the Internet info explosion.

So if "dope" (i prefer pot if you please) and religion has the same symptoms, what's wrong with pot? POt user should be respected for their religious beliefs according to your way of thinking...Thanks mojave you are making it easy!

http://www.addictionca.com/FAQ-marijuana.htm
that site is pretty interesting for someone who never used marijuanna or did, i found some negative effects that were actually true, but until the part where they are talking about man getting bigger tits or lacking sexual desires on the long term effects...everything to scare people...typical to the american way to educate their people, fortunately it's not everybody who's dumb enough to believe these!
also that site seems to have multiple source to their information, some are even in contradicton with each other...
