Yahoo Canada ^ | March 2, 2006 | Camille Bains

Posted on 03/03/2006 5:46:33 AM PST by headsonpikes

Pot crusader Marc Emery says his appearance on the news program 60 Minutes on Sunday will be an opportunity for Americans to see him as just an ordinary guy who regards himself as the Luke Skywalker against their government's Darth Vader tactics.

Uh, what legal activity would that be? Simple posession is still illegal in Canada (if not much enforced). Production and distribution is illegal. Selling seeds is still illegal - the RCMP just made a big bust the other day of a Canadian outfit selling seeds. And now that we have a Conservative gov't I wouldn't expect to see any further loosening of the laws, in fact I expect we may see stronger penalties for some of these crimes. That's one thing I don't agree with the CPC (Conservative party of Canada) on, but I believe it's a stand that is generally popular with CPC supporters.

I stand correct on the legality. But the Gov't sill collects taxes on sales.

No, I'm annoyed by these pretentious pr$%#s thumbing their noses at us from Canada. And the posters who support them.

Why? Don't like having a country next door with the freedom we were promised? I'm glad those folks, (avoiding a mixed metaphor), are thumbing their noses at you. The posters who support them and Americans who recognize the lose of liberties brought on with the onset of the WoD are the patriots. The posters who support the WoD are contributing to the lose of liberty are tools of the national socialists, useful idiots for fascists who would control all of our life.

Here's hoping I do both this Sunday.

Jeez RP..did you not get enough coffee this morning.......
Maybe you should take some over the counter pills to help with that headache.......

But then Tom Cruise would be mad at you for using any kind of substance to relieve your pain......

It is all just a scale as to who is right and wrong in this world.

I can see him pushing his "agenda" in Canada but whatever gave him the idea it was OK to go after the USA?

Dumb, IMHO. Even though the similarities to prohibition are many it is a different world today, as he may soon discover.

He might not be extradited but if he is, he could go to jail for a long time.

Some freedom. Emery has been arrested 21 times in Canada and spent 62 days in a Saskatoon jail for trafficking after passing a joint.

California should be so free, huh?

Simple possession is still illegal in Canada (if not much enforced).

I've been in Canada 4 times and on two of those visits, I was offered a joint by friendly young Canadians. They are very cordial with their cannabis - very friendly neighbors.

Yea, but did you see the size of that joint!

Plus, he's a pioneer. You know the British would have hanged our colonial revolutionaries, given the opportunity.

The psuedo-intellectual RP is annoyed.

Someone called him an "outhouse lawyer" on another thread. How true, how true.

LOL!

Marijuana is non-addictive. But I know that you know that.

You know the truth.

There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. When there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares enough things criminal that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt.

Got a dozen BenJohnson/ Blueberry cross from him a couple years ago.

I'd have to leave a very positive feedback.
