Yahoo Canada ^ | March 2, 2006 | Camille Bains

Pot crusader Marc Emery says his appearance on the news program 60 Minutes on Sunday will be an opportunity for Americans to see him as just an ordinary guy who regards himself as the Luke Skywalker against their government's Darth Vader tactics.

Narrated by Woody Harrison.(Winston)

Figures.

"Woody Harrison: A lot of Hollywood stars love to go to Britain(snip)

About the movie - Grass - Have you ever seen it and do you have any comments about the film? I've seen it a couple of times and find Grass to be accurate, comprehensive and entertaining. The most striking thing about the federal government's approach to cannabis is how many lies they have told and the cruel treatment of cannabis users. (my reflections on Mr. Harrelson's views on other topics in a following post)

Some of Woody's ideas included shutting down all nuclear power plants, reviving the Chemurgy movement, and cutting the defense budget in half in the middle of a war." "The war against terrorism is terrorism. The whole thing is just bullsh*t." -- Woody Harrelson

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nuclear power plants produce types of waste that I don't think science has yet found a safe way to dispose of - therefore - there is a legitimate argument against nuclear power production.

Now about that war on terror (off topic) issue - What I'm going to quote will not seem relevant if you are not a Bible believing person.

14 ‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments,
15 and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant,
16 I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart.
And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17 I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies.
Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you.
18 ‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
19 I will break the pride of your power;

I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.
20 And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.
21 ‘Then, if you walk contrary to Me, and are not willing to obey Me, I will bring on you seven times more plagues, according to your sins.
Leviticus 26 (New King James Version)
Biblegateway.com

Bottom line - our Creator is punishing our nation. Mr. Harrelson is right i.e. we will not prevail against God's punishment. Now, the way out of this problem would be national repentance. Do you think that is going to happen?

There is a lot more to this than what I mention, but it would be a different topic.

Like Woody Harrelson, his pothead followers are frequently anti-nuke kooks.

I've never heard of Grass, searched it on Amazon, and it looks very interesting!

Grass Storyline

Genres: Documentary
Plot Outline: The history of the American government's war on marijuana in the 20th century.
Plot Synopsis: This film explores the history of the American government's official policy on marijuana in the 20th century. Rising with nativist xenophobia with Mexican immigration and their taste for smoking marijuana, we see the establishment of a wrong headed federal drug policy as a crime issue as oppposed to a public health approach. Fuelled by prejudice, hysterical propaganda and political opportunism undeterred by voices of reason on the subject, we follow the story of a costly and futile crusade against a substance with questionable ill effects that has damaged basic civil liberites.

Yes, those with agendas try to rewrite history.

There's the shame of it, when idiots are compelled to change reality to match their own hallucinations.

Here's a post I got from another thread from FReeper "wayoverontheright".

This is exactly what you are doing. This is you. I keep saying you are a left-winger. You obviously use left-wing tactics. Here's the proof of that.

"Leftist ideology is underpinned by tenets which are constantly refuted by outcomes of their implementation. This means that lying, pretzel logic, subterfuge, revisionist history, and lately their most valuable tactic, CHANGING THE SUBJECT, are necessary to maintain and propagate".

"Leftism rests on emotion, not logic; therefore viability and propagation can be maintained and fostered with mere rhetoric. What they say doesn't have to be true, it just has to be stated in order for the faithful to continue the willfull self-delusion".

FR is a conservative web site, not a left-wing site. Aren't you out of place here?

Here I am, thinking pot info is hard to find and mugs tells me there's Pot TV. They have a hemp cooking show! Wild.

When I tried to research pot 20 years ago, even the books were banned in Mass. Now there are commercial documentaries about it sold on Amazon. Will wonders never cease? I certainly hope not.

"Just speaking for myself - if I ever get busted - I promise you that clinical treatment will be my first choice in judicial remedies."

If you got busted for a first offense of marijuana possession where I live you would get put on probation and one of the conditions of your probation besides paying lots of fines and costs would be to complete the "Marijuana Offender Program," which is a class that you go to on a couple of Saturdays where you will watch a whole bunch of videos and listen to some kid who has a counselor "certificate" talk. This class will be reported as treatment and you will be a number in these statistics they cite. Your primary drug of abuse will be listed as marijuana. Every single person arrested here is to get some sort of "treatment." I have no doubt that there are many states with similar laws and that much of this "treatment" they talk about is along the lines of that I described.

Sounds like the California "medical marijuana" scam.

Left / Right labels are a problem all by itself.(IMHO) A person may be liberal minded on one topic and conservative on another. What label would fit such a person?

BTW - have you ever seen the film - Grass? If so, let's hear your reflections.

So, I would be another brick in the wall. Just what I thought. The government's payroll would increase, taxes would "of necessity" increase, my wage earning potential would suffer and I would probably meet a host of substance users of every stripe. Some of these people might even become long term associates. I think I already understood the equation.

Always good to read your posts.

I hope you see the movie. Be sure to have a friend or two over to share and discuss. Some refreshments would be nice also.

Cheers!

The dial up commercials? Haven't seen them. Must be a Mojave thing. Ar least we still have our phone booth. The people here don't break into it and steal the change!

You're absolutely right. Labels serve to divide and conquer. That's why George Washington was opposed to political parties. History has proven him right.
