This will never see the light of day in the msm.
This is embarrasing to the left.
It must be suppressed!
It was fabricated and planted by the Bush administraion!
The media always cries foul first; details of the truth may or may not come forth thereafter. And people remember the first thing they hear, usually, and call what follows "spin".
What? Blanco Lied and People Died?
If Gore was in the White House, would anyone be complaining about Katrina?

Or the daily terrorist attacks in the United States?
No one in the msm would be.
Silly question, of course not....
FYI
The day storm hit, Bush was worried about levees (Midday - Blanco , "We haven't breached yet.")

Blanco was in Baton Rouge, only 75 miles from NO. At the time, I wondered why she simply didnt drive to NO after the wind subsided. I10 was open. She also has a state helicopter. Instead she and Mary Landrieu sat in BR and issued press releases about how they were on top of things. I should not rub it in but I did vote for Jindal for governor.
No. But surely they would be praising Karina Shiff-Gore.
Blanco and the DNC were more concerned about how to turn Katrina into a "Bash Bush" opportunity than with saving lives.
While she was taking cat-naps, she dreamed 'all is well'.
My way left leaning Independant friends get all their news from Yahoo and were nearly salivating yesterday over the Bush video.
I was correcting my own perception from what our NOLAn onboard said. The levees hold back the River and the Gulf. The canal floodwalls hold back the Lake. It's a difference of location within the levee system and magnitude of the function, as I see it now.
The big levees weren't breached (there'd be NO NOLA at all now, if one had been); the smaller localized ones were. Blanco and Nagin appeared to be talking about the big ones - the River ones - in their denials of the breaches, but about the small "canal floodwalls" as far as what they *thought* Bush already knew about. They are obfuscating by semantics, I believe.
I know what you've explained, but I'm going by what out fellow FReeper said was local vernacular used to distinguish which levees.
I just don't understand this blame game. I'm sure this is all for the benefit of the lawyers.
It was a NATURAL DISASTER.
Nobody caused it, nobody could stop it! Nobody could possibly know all the repercussions (sp?). They need to MOVE ON to recovery and everybody get on with their lives.
I am SO SICK of Katrina. I live around Baton Rouge, and it's ALL WE EVER HEAR!!! /rant off/
Very nice and objective, MSM--the breaking story was a rerun of a tape the Bush Administration sent out at the time of the story, spun to make it look like Bush was lying, thus perpetuating the Dem talking points about "Bush lied."
Then, whistling as they pass by the furor, the MSM whispers "Oh, yeah ,there's a video of the democrat, too, and this one is actual news, and exonerates Bush," and hurries off.
Nice. Real nice. These people sicken me. I know I should be immune to it, but I'm not.
I'll get sick and tired of it after we get a chance to beat up some Rats for 6 months straight like they did to Bush.
I will never forget watching Blanco and Nagin having a press conferance before Katrina made landfall and telling my Husband how scared everyone looked. We have disaster drills all the time, not to mention little occurances like Ivan et al, and I had never seen such fear from 'leaders'. In Mobile we knew that Katrina was BIG and heading to NOLA... Nagin was saying it would turn and hit Mobile (Let the good times roll). While doing our hurricane preps and evacuating my mom from Alabama's shoreline we were wondering just what the heck were they smoking in NOLA! Everyone else along the Gulf Coast KNEW it was going to be big and bad for everyone..well, almost everyone.
The whole thing disgusts me. When you live in CA, are you surprised that sometimes earthquakes and fires happen? When you live on the Gulf Coast you MUST know that eventually you're going to experience some extreme weather! Now Cindy Sheehan is heading to Mobile for more Bush bashing. oh joy
ROFL...thanks for a laugh! It gave me a break from banging my head against the wall!
