the NY State GOP is in shambles and one election short of total extinction. I am embarrassed by this pro abortion group. However, there are still a couple of Republicans in NY State who are solidly pro life: Peter King and State Senator Serphin Maltese for example. This state - and California - lead in promoting birth control yet have the highest abortion rates. Gee, do you think there is a connection??????

The "maternal health clause" is a total crock. "Health" is defined as a bad day at the office or ingrown toe nail. The horrible Doe decision codified the "healh" exception - including mental/psychological health.

I'm sending this message by e-mail to Republican politicians, and probably a letter to editor:

"The NYS Republican Party THINKS it can't get anyone elected, unless they run a pro-abortion liberal. However, pro-abortion, liberal Howard Mills lost to Schmuckie with a humiliating 24%.

Pro-life John Spencer won the mayor's race in Yonkers, twice, and who knows how many other times he would have won if it weren't for term limits.

Former Senator Al D'Amato won in the 90's, by the same number of votes cast on the NYS Right-to-Life line. Later he promoted pro-abortion Pataki, so the NYS Right-to-Life did not endorse D'Amato, and he LOST!

When former A.G. Vacco was endorsed by the NYS Right-to-Life Party - he WON! The next time around, his campaign manager unwisely told him not to seek the NYS Right-to-Life Party endorsement, and Vacco lost by the number of votes cast on the NYS Right-to-Life Party line.

My NY state senator is a pro-life, conservative.

Majority leader GOP Bruno is pro-life.

Minority GOP leader Tedeski is a pro-life, conservative.

And so it goes............

According to a poll that I read, pro-lifers will vote for a pro-life candidate, but pro-"choicers" will vote for other issues."

No argument from me; pro lifers (and I am one) are very devoted to the cause - more so than the wishy washy people who are nominally "pro choice".

In NYS GOP gubernatorial candidate Weld is pro-abortion, and GOP candidate John Faso is pro-life with exceptions. I don't agree with Faso's exceptions, but he has a pretty good pro-life voting record, when he was an assemblyman.

Faso is ahead in the polls of Weld by 9%, so it obviously doesn't hurt to be pro-life in NYS. But try to tell that to the NYS GOP. (eyeroll)
