Such has become a common tactic in the business world where internet stories/rumors/malicious attacks can hurt a company's profits. The companies (like IBM) hire firms which monitor the net for attacks and then respond.
I often wonder about that exact thing here. Every now and then, the administration proposes a dog of an idea. Something so bad that no self respecting conservative would dream of supporting it. Then all of a sudden, some 'bots' come out in force and vigorously defend the idea at all costs. I had just assumed that there were a group of GOP operatives assigned here to feel out and sway the base.
You can bet on it.
You should also assume there are Dem ops and Libertarian ops as well.
Makes for a nice "balanced" atmosphere at times. :)~
It's nice that we can still decide for ourselves and use our own brains isn't it.
