In less than one hour, (6 am EST), Imus will be on radio (and MSNBC). He will LOVE all the attention Gregory's call generated. But Imus will say Gregory was not drunk, and Imus will make fun of Drudge for blowing this all out of proportion. Imus will say he didn't mean it when he said Gregory was drunk, more about, "I'm a drunk/ druggie and I can tell when someone is drinking or on drugs, and Gregory was not either".
I was watching Imus yesterday when Gregory called in to the show from India, and until Imus accused Gregory of being drunk, it never occured to me he was. He just sounded like he always does when he's on with Imus...silly and full of himself, trying to be amusing.
I'm sure Imus will tease viewers with an upcoming call from Gregory to explain himself. And for good measure, Tim Russert, Gregory's boss will probably call in to deny Gregory was drunk. He will probably spout off some ridiculous claim that alcohol isn't even available in India.
Imus will turn this whole thing into a ratings bonanza, talk about it endlessly.
Oh and one other prediction. No other White House reporter will ever mention Gregory's questionable, non-professional call to the Imus show.
One thing certain, sure to please the MSM and Imus. This Gregory dust-up will get far more Imus attention than the historic Presidential visit to India.
