Found this in a search: Taking their name from Dewey Phillips’ legendary WHBQ Memphis radio show of the 1950’s, the first Red, Hot & Blue opened in 1988 in Arlington, Virginia. The rhythm-n-blues-n-bar-b-que-bistro was the brainchild of four Washington, D.C. businessmen, including former Tennessee Congressman and Governor Don Sundquist. Lee Atwater was also among the original investors who helped turn the Red, Hot & Blue idea into reality.

As Atwater has been dead for nearly 15 years, it has, as I said, been a long time since I was there, but their food was pretty darned good.

Live in Alexandria and remember when they opened. It isn't Lexington BBQ, but it is pretty good. Lee Atwater had an interest in the franchise. BTW, spoke with the owner of a new RH&B and discovered it takes $1 million to open one franchise. Shoosh, I remember Red Pigs in NC where the stack of wood was bigger than the resturant. They used to be built next to every mill to serve the workers. Man how things have changed.
