I am sick of hearing about N.O. while Mississippi is totally ignored in and by the media. That state suffered far more in hurricane damage than did N.O.
Vividly. I watched all night and when I left for work, Shep was talking about "dodging the bullet" which the NY Slimes also reported that day. There were hurricane parties on Bourbon Street. Then the levees broke. And 5 days later Shep was yelling at the government because Mayor Nagin hadn't gotten folks out of the Superdome and the poor folks were left on the interstate. I remember that so vividly. And of course, ALL of it (including Katrina itself) became something to beat W over the head with. The polls dropped then. And, it's sort of human, folks have to have someone to blame. And then the fingers start. Very very bad...when everyone was doing the best they could with what they knew at the time.
I rarely watched the other stations back during Katrina .. but yes, Shep did say that
I'm late in getting here .. but I heard the clips of what Nagin said about not getting a warning
Did he not see all those bulletins explaining what a Hurricane 5 could do to a city/state ????
I remember them reading them and my heart sank for the folks in Katrina's path
