Ooops, left this out of your name in my previous post to you.

A

Oh, I guess you really didn't need it because you have proven you are a great big A.

Handk, find and read "Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television" it is a fascinating read. In the meantime don't sit too close to your set, now that they know you are a dissenter they will try and reprogram you through your TV (especially if you have HiDef, or as we call it - HiDeath). We avoid this (reprogramming) by watching the telly through a cresent moon shaped pinhole in a 3' x 3' sheet of heavy duty foil. Good Luck.

Then there was the McDonald's commercial about their "meal deal" for $2.22. The numbers 2.22 appear in the commercial three times; 222 times three equals 666.

THe three-hit theory is a well know principle in marketing. If you want your lab rat to understand the point you are trying to make, say it 3 times in the span f the commercial. This is mere coincidence.

In general, your post is interesting, but I would like to see lots more evidence before I would put this one past the weka hypothesis stage.

I refer to television as the "one eyed god" and deliberately cut down my intake of it. (down to one show a week--24)

Seriously though, I don't remember from when I watched TV on a daily basis in the early 90's a bunch of ads for presciption drugs--nothing like the sampling I have seen recently--which leads me to a personal tin-foil hat theory: The drugs are to treat a "made-up" or hypochondriacs condition. A condition that may actually exist but isn't common enough to sell a lot of the drug--so they make this commercial to "suggest" to viewers who are perhaps more suggestible that they may have something wrong with them..and Surprise! A new health disorder takes wings!

Just an aside--on the one-eyed god thingy--next time you sit down down to "worship" think about the "shrine" you have erected to your television...entertainment center with glass doors? entertainment armoire? Central to your living room or den wall? think about it :-) btw not criticizing ANYONE I am just as guilty.

You mean you have a two-eyed computer screen? Where do I buy one? That's sounds cool. Just joking around...I agree with you assertions.
