fatima, they are really playing it down on the news. They say it's a "low-level" incident; that whatever it is, it's contained within the plant; and as of right now, there's no danger to the public.
But then--that's what they said when TMI blew. I lived ten miles from that nuclear plant, and when the enormity of it became known two days later, there was mass panic. No gas at the pumps, no cash in the MAC machines. It was chaos trying to evacuate.
Susquehanna Plant is in Berwick. The alerts went out to EMA in Luzerne and Columbia counties.
I'm about 80 miles from there.
I believe this is the one located just west of Scranton, north of Berwick - kind of creepy-looking place when you go by it at night :-O
