WASHINGTON -- In an early sign of the imagery that may flood the nation's television screens as congressional elections approach this fall, a conservative political group closely aligned with the Bush administration has launched a blitz of television ads to shore up sagging public support for the war in Iraq.
The television commercials feature vivid portraits of smoke pouring from the World Trade Center and the aftermath of terrorist attacks in Madrid and London as veterans of the Iraq war and parents of fallen soldiers make the case for continuing the U.S. military campaign in Iraq.

This article, with a somewhat leftist bias, gives a good summary of what these ads are doing. Links to them have been previously posted here on FR and they are compelling. The Swiftvets did the same thing, starting out with a relatively small buy, polling to see how well the ads worked, and then advertising the success of their ads to get really heavy money to run a big campaign. If these ads work as well as the Swiftvets' ads did, I'll be sending a lot of money to Progress for America. Keep tuned for more.

Can we revamp the ads to show the be-headings by the terrorist thugs? You know the ones that are linked on the Michael Savage Website.... I think that would shore up some support.
I really hate that there are so many brain-dead MSM-bots in this country.

Our ads out to show the most graphic footage of the planes actually being flown into the Twin Towers, people jumping to escape the flames, the towers failing, and the beheadings. It's the way to shock votes out of their complacency and show what a great success we've had in avoiding more atrocities on American soil.

So sad that one has to pay for the other side of the story. D*mn the presstitutes....

I have an ad campaign that is simple. "Vote Democrat and you vote for own death". That is all the American people need to know. This applies to all Americans including Jews, Blacks and Gays!!! The Muslim terrorists are going to have a field day slaughtering Jews, Blacks and Gays with the help of the "traitor/treason" Democrat Party. How can these groups be so dumb?

Good!
The American people have short memories and become very complacent after a while and they need to be shocked back into reality.

Interesting the the article didn't address the huge controversy here about those ads. The DFL (Our dem party in MN) has come out and called for members to protest the ads, saying they are "un-American" and the troops in the ad are spouting "lies". Nick Coleman (of the Mpls. Star and Sickle)has devoted no less than three columns blasting them, even using "facts" from far-left websites and blogs.
If you want to see the ads, you can see them at Midwestheroes.com. They are excellent.

[Stuart Roy's] Progress for America's activities have closely tracked the White House's political agenda. The group spent more than $35 million in support of President Bush during the 2004 campaign. One of the group's commercials, described by Advertising Age as perhaps the most influential in the campaign and one that aired nearly 30,000 times in nine swing states, also addressed terrorist fears. Dubbed "Ashley's Story," the commercial featured a snapshot of an embrace Bush gave a young girl whose mother died in the Sept. 11 attacks. "He's the most powerful man in the world," Ashley said in the ad, "and all he wants to do is make sure I'm safe, that I'm OK."
Since the election, the group mounted advertising campaigns on behalf of the administration's political priorities, including Social Security reform and confirmation of the president's two Supreme Court nominees."Progress" is a bad word.
What do you know about Stuart Roy? (Other than the fact that he was Delay's spokesman?)

There's an interesting thread at the DUmp from a soldier who just returned from Iraq. Seems he was sent off with great fanfare, awaiting his report. Now that he's back, he tries to tell them the truth and they call him 'brainwashed', tell him to come back when he's allowed to speak freely, and pretty much tell him that he doesn't know what he's talking about.
The man was still standing up to them the last time I checked.
A DUmp post worth reading...

Now, now, you couldn't expect the Trib actually to expose how the Minn. DemonRats are trying to destroy Iraq veterans' free speech rights.
