My electric dryer uses over 3000 watts to dry a load of clothes in about 30 minutes; a clothesline in the yard in direct sun will do the same job in about an hour.

That's why solar will never match conventional power. The beauty of conventional power, other than low cost, is it's ready for peak load demands 24/7. The peak power is "pulled" straight from the line. And it's already in the proper AC configuration.
Hence no expensive and massive batteries or inverters required.
