I think I'm seeing a trend here: evidently "some people" will not be happy until we cut ALL ties with ALL countries outside the US.

Yep, that's what they're wanting. We're to fight this war without allies and without weapons. We're just supposed to go where ever we want and ignore everything but what they want us to do when they want us to do it.

They have no concept that bringing people along takes time and effort and has to be done one painful step at a time, but when it's done, it's done right.
