I know, it's Mardi Gras. And Mayor Nagin is trying to be funny. Probably he believes he is paying tribute to that "John Wayne Dude," Lt. Gen. Russel Honore.

But still, there' something funny about the imagery.

 

And I guess he better learn to ride if he is going to take up residence with the rest of his family in Texas after the elections.

But he's wearing general's stars and a huge rack of ribbon's, thats unforgivable and possibly against the law. It's a shame. He treats our uniform as a prop. A pet peeve of mine, too. I can't stand to watch most westerners because of the way the actors saw at the horses' mouths.

I cannot, and will not fault your argument, as I am in total agreement. He cheapens the uniform by such display, and worse cheapens what those who have worn it have done. I am such a one myself...
