Web Site 'Drafts' Donald Trump for 2008
NewsMax ^ | 2/28/06

Posted on 02/28/2006 1:41:20 PM PST by areafiftyone

The head of New York's Independence Party has launched a Web site aiming to draft Donald Trump into the 2008 presidential race as a third-party candidate.

Party Chairman Frank MacKay says he recently met with Trump to tell him about the draft plan. MacKay says the mega-developer was flattered and intrigued by the idea but noncommittal about running for president.

Trump considered a third-party run for the White House six years ago as the candidate of the Ross Perot-inspired Reform Party, but eventually decided against it.

MacKay's Web site is www.donaldtrump2008.com

MacKay says it's up to him and other activists to convince Trump to run. He says Trump looks and sounds more presidential than Perot - and needs no introduction to the American public.

They want to split the Republican vote and put in another Clinton. What's new about this?

Simple.

He won't run.

He loves the media spotlight, almost as much, if not more so, then any hollywood celebrity.

FWIW. His chief political advisory is Roger Stone, who is a republican, but did some work for the Sharpton campaign (mostly writing one liners to attack other dems).

The dumbest thing was the NY State GOP trying to get him to run for Governor against Spitzer without anyone realizing that Spitzers dad and him are close friends going back almost 20 years.

Trump didn't mention it for awhile, letting the hype build up, before saying no.

He would do it again this time too, and have some fun.

How?! If we look at his record, his typical approach is to bankrupt, and use the massive size of his debt as leverage with his creditors to float him. That won't work here.

In last night's newest Apprentice episode, the 'winners' were able to ask him questions. As I recall, one of the questions was, "How do you handle the pressure?" His answer was something along the lines of not taking it very seriously. Something like, he has fun with it because: 'The stuff I do isn't really that serious or important, compared to thousands dying of Aids or in terrible killings taking place in Africa'.

So I take it by his own words that what you see of his personality in business (assuming that is a positive thing) is not what you would get in politics. He apparently sees the difference in the two jobs, which means he probably has been thinking about it, and decided not to let his ego ruin his fun by getting involved in the really serious stuff.

Good luck to them in finding a Republican who would vote for the idiot. Trump is a con artist and an ego maniac. He was born into real estate in NYC and managed to stay rich with only a few bankruptcies for his stockholders. What an achievement.

"That won't work here."

Our government owes a staggering amount of money to its people and to nations around the world. They've been propping up the dollar to make it look good and safe when it isn't. There are billions and trillions of US dollars that are owned by foreignors and other nations. If just one nation decided to totally sell all those dollars our dollar would drop like a rock and cause a chain reaction of selling which would make the dollar less and less valuable. Why don't they do it? They don't want to lose money either. All thoughout history fiat money (money based on nothing like our dollar is) ends up being worthless. Not worth less, but worthless.

As a former Dem and former NY'r who now lives in PA and is leaning towards George Allen, I gotta tell ya, I can think of few things worse than a Donald Trump Presidency!

How many times has Donald Trump bloated his worth beyond what any rational human believes and really hurt people in the process? I've followed this man...when Forbes said he was nearly bankrupt 10, 15 years ago, Trump 'begged to differ.' Now that Forbes says Trump is work a few billion (I'm sure!) Trump is back to strutting.

Remember in the 90's when he promised his casino shareholders the world,....and ended up dumping a couple billion dollars of debt on them to save himself from going bankrupt? I cannot even imagine how many grandma's and grandpa's were destroyed in that move! He'd treat the elderly the same way as President: Promise them the world, and dump 'em down the drain when he deemed it necessary!

I guess I'm sorry to ramble in my first post here!

I actually took tge time to go to the website for Trump. What a waste of cyberspace! They actually say if Donald Trump was President, New Orleans would be a world class destination!

Trump can't even make his own casinos world class destinations or else why do they keep losing money!

Yeah that's what I want, another Clinton, which Trump is: Bad hair, lousy land deals, and questionable ties to questionable people who may be in the mob!

"and ended up dumping a couple billion dollars of debt on them to save himself from going bankrupt?"

I didn't know this but am not surprised by it. I think Trump is ruthless, not a man I would want as President.

Seeing as Donald Trump is easily the worlds leading authority on going bankrupt, he might bring some useful insights to Washington.

Trump is ruthless alright! He's a cold hearted man. I read about him dumping billions on his shareholders a number of different places. If you want to be conservative with your money, great, but he's actually very liberal with other peoples money when it comes to his own lifestyle!

WIth "his" money, Trump is very very greedy and uncaring. I believe in private charity and Trump always says the right things, byt his foundatiuon never gives much to charity, despite all his claims. Look at the Smoking Gun on Trump's charity. Someone said maybe Trump doesn't give much to charity because he doesn't have all the money he says he does!

That is really funny! I hope you are kidding about Trump bringing useful insights to Washington, sort of a "what not to do" if President!

Like I said, and I wish I could remember the name of the book I first saw this in, but Donald Trump has avoided bankruptcy by dumping billions in debt from his casinos onto his shareholders! It's disgraceful.

Of course, most media wont report these things about Trump. He is a media darling now!
