Former FEMA head Michael Brown complained to NBC's Brian Williams on his "Nightly News" show that he was "hung out to dry" by President Bush. "As one of the president's appointee," Brown said, "I realized that I would have to fall on my sword for the president...and I did, but I didn't realize that he would leave me on the battlefield." Brown said also that "he had wished he had told Americans that Katrina "was the worst disaster the country had ever faced" instead of relying on the "talking points" supplied.

Can't be...Brownie was doing a "heck of a job," the president told me so.
Yeah. It's more like Brown hung Bush out to dry.
You're job, Brownie, is to take one for the team and the President. He can't do your job and his too. You are there to take the flack. It's called heirarchy. He's at the top, you ain't.
I thought it was the governor and the mayor of NLA?
What happened with that???
Oh, maybe because they are Democrats?
It wasn't the worst disaster the country had ever faced. What is going on with this guy? If he were a General in the Army, he never would have got to be General.
Brownie got a sweet appointment, and was shocked to find out he was supposed to work.
That is Boss-talk for 'I wish he would just do his job.'
All he had to do was look and sound like he was in charge and everything was under control. He didn't come close.
What a loser. The more he whines, the worse he makes himself look.
So? It's Bush's perogative.
Actually it was Blanco and Mayor Cocopuff who hung the state out to dry. Bush should have slapped them down, but noooo.
I'll never forget that Blackberry message from his staffer about defecating in the hall at the Superdome - and how sorry he was that Brownie had to wait in line at a Restaurant for his dinner.
I believe Brown was done wrong. He had massive experience, successful experience, in dealing with major hurricanes. The year before he successfully dealt with four major hurrianes and that experience was valuable and needed.
The real issue with Katrina was not the federal response. The administration, IMHO, needed to stand four square against that and not offer a valuable employee up on the chopping block to deflect inaccurate and purely political criticism.
The governor, the mayor, etc. They were clearly...obviously...to anyone watching the principle weak points. Brown, IMHO, was a strong point based on his track record and he should have been kept in place.
Now...sadly...it has turned into a tinkling contest in front of the entire country.
Just my opinion.
He screwed the pooch. He sidestep the level of command and was not reporting critical information at critical junctures in time. He is now the darling of the L/MSM. He will be put on their payrolls if not already. Enough said. No desire for further comments on this one.
Maybe he was all wet.
Let him drown. I reckon that is less painfull than falling on his sword like a good soldier should do.
How obvious is Brown's motivation?
