Are all group moralities merely "rationalizations"? No, I'm only suggesting rationalization has occured when people admit that they have empathy that matches their group morality but insist that their group morality is not (or can't be) derived from the empathy of individuals in the group.

My ethics of personhood derives from my empathy for newborn babies and my intellectual recognition that there is no defensible criterion of personhood by which newborn babies are persons but unborn babies are not. If that fits your paradigm, then we're in agreement.
