Yep it happened. Summer 1982. He was setup outside the hanger at Harlingen AFB where they had the retail sales area inside it of it for memorbilia. They also a bunch of Nose Art there too. I remember as a young kid I was interested in that! Waited for over an hour and a half.
Not a clue. I was in front of him for maybe 15 seconds. I was so crestfallen I don't know.
On the upside I managed to get the ENTIRE crew of B-17 Enola Gay to sign my B17 poster. Including the pilot Paul Tibbets. So I didn't go away empty handed.
All I can say is that I'm sorry for your bad experience. I would've thought better of him.
